Ekachai Jearakul



Ekachai Jerakul is a Thai classical guitarist to gain worldwide recognition attracting international attention. Born on July 5, 1987 at Ubon Ratchathani in north eastern Thailand, he is currently in his fourth year at The College of Music, Mahidol University, in Bangkok, Thailand majoring in Music Performance, Classical Guitar.

The inspiration to study classical guitar manifested at the age of 13 while listening to “H.M. Blues or Chatachivit,” a musical composition created by the King of Thailand, His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej.

As if fulfilling a dream come true, his most rewarding achievement and highlight of his career was a divine classical guitar solo performance in front of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, Princess of Narathivarth, Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsavali and Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, the Royal Granddaughter.

Ekachai, representing Thailand in numerous classical guitar international competitions and concerts around the world with award winning solo performances in Japan, China, South Korea, USA, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Russia and Greece. He is frequently invited as a guest instructor at famous music academies throughout Thailand sharing his genuine talent and passion for music.

In 2007, Ekachai was the first Thai classical guitarist invited to participate in an international competition in Russia. He was awarded first place as well as receiving an honor for the Best Classical Guitar Soloist. The following month he won first place at The Hermoupolis Guitar Festival in Hermoupolis, Greece.

In 2008, Ekachai delighted Thailand again when he prevailed at The Berlin International Guitar Competition by winning first place, considered to be his most significant award ever received. Later that year, he won first place in both the Asia International Competition and the Singapore International Guitar Competition. His extraordinary talent, treasured awards and ability to transcend the spirit of his music enabling him to touch the hearts of a global audience in any language has made him genuinely famous in Thailand and beyond.
